As a country committed to keeping loved ones together and family reunification, Canada provides a variety of immigration schemes that give citizens a chance to sponsor their family members to immigrate to Canada. The Family Sponsorship Program allows adult permanent citizens or residents to sponsor a relative for immigration n to Canada and reunite families.
To be eligible, the individual looking for sponsorship should be one of the following:
Parent
Dependent child
Grandparent
Spouse, conjugal or common-law partner
Sibling, niece, nephew, or grandchild below 18 years whose parents are no more or who are unmarried
Unless the individual is legitimately staying in Canada temporarily, such as with a work or study permit, he or she sponsored should live outside of Canada.
You must be at least 18 years old.
You and the sponsored relative should sign a sponsorship agreement in which you pledge to provide financial help to your relative if necessary. This agreement also states that the individual who is becoming a permanent resident will make every attempt to sustain himself or herself.
You must assist a spouse, common-law or conjugal partner financially for three years after they become a permanent resident.
You must financially support a dependent kid for ten years, or until the youngster reaches the age of 25, whichever comes first.
Are incarcerated
Are subject to a deportation order
Are in the process of declaring bankruptcy
Government social assistance is available (except for disability)
Have been convicted of (or attempted/threatened to conduct) a violent or sexual offense that resulted in bodily damage to a family member
Have failed to make child support payments
Have not paid back immigration loans or made late or missing payments
Have previously sponsored a family member and failed to satisfy the conditions
Have sponsored an ex-spouse or partner who has not been a permanent resident for more than three years
They became permanent residents and were sponsored less than five years ago
You can sponsor your parents and grandparents for permanent residence in Canada using this program. You should be able to support them and their dependents financially and you must make sure that they do not require government social assistance. To be one of the 10,000 sponsors invited to apply for this family sponsorship program, prospective sponsors must submit the required documents online.
As long as the sponsor and the kids receive IRCC approval, this sponsorship is open to both natural-born and adopted kids. If they are below 22 years and do not have a common-law partner or spouse, children are considered dependents. Candidates who qualify for the Dependent Child Sponsorship are given the opportunity to study and work in Canada permanently.
After receiving IRCC approval, a citizen or permanent resident of Canada may sponsor their non-Canadian spouse, common-law partner, or conjugal partner. The Canadian government also takes candidates into consideration who are in same-sex relationships. The Outland and Inland Sponsorship are two options for sponsorships.
Under this program, you can sponsor an orphaned sister, brother, niece, nephew, or grandchild who is your blood relative and under the age of 18. If you do not have a close living relative you could sponsor in their place, you can also sponsor one relative (a sister, brother, niece, nephew, aunt, or uncle) of any age.
