New Foreign Worker Application, or NFWA, is a Canadian work permit for foreign workers who are not eligible for another Canadian work permit. With the implementation of the new NAFTA Work Permit in Canada, this program has been updated as per new regulations.
The updated version of the program will allow certain types of workers to apply for a work permit under the NAFTA category. This article explains what you need to know about the new NAFTA work permit in Canada and its eligibility requirements.
Under the updated NAFTA regulations, applicants who apply for the updated work permit will be required to have a job offer in Canada. This means that they will have to have a Canadian employer who has hired them and will sponsor their application for the NAFTA work permit.
The updated NAFTA regulations also have a minimum income threshold, which will be discussed further in the article. If you meet the requirements for a NAFTA work permit, you will be eligible to apply for one. If you are unsure about your eligibility, it is best to consult with a professional immigration consultant for advice.
The applicant must have a valid job offer from a Canadian employer
The applicant must have a minimum annual income of CAD 25,000
The applicant must have valid medical insurance coverage
The applicant must have a valid passport and a clean criminal record
There are some limitations to the updated NAFTA work permit in Canada. While the program has been updated to include certain types of workers, it does not include everyone who would like to work in Canada. The updated program has limitations, and the following groups of workers will not be eligible for the NAFTA work permit in Canada.
Students and trainees- If you are currently studying in Canada on a student permit or a trainee program, you cannot apply for a NAFTA work permit in Canada.
Seasonal agricultural workers- If you have previously worked in Canada as a seasonal agricultural worker, you will not be eligible for the updated NAFTA work permit.
Foreign investors- Foreign investors who are interested in obtaining a work permit in Canada will not be eligible to apply for a NAFTA work permit.
Self-employed workers- Self-employed workers who are interested in working in Canada on a self-employed permit will not be eligible to apply for a NAFTA work permit.
Religious workers- Religious workers who have been conducting missionary work in Canada will not be eligible to apply for a NAFTA work permit.
The updated NAFTA work permit in Canada will allow certain types of workers to apply for a work permit in Canada if they have a valid job offer from a Canadian employer. If you meet the conditions for the updated NAFTA work permit, it is important to apply before the program ends on December 21, 2020.
